Are you a full-time wedding photographer?
I am a full-time wedding photographer, this is my only job; a job that I love and care passionately about. While there are many excellent photographers out there who are not working full time, I do believe that in order to provide the best level of service and quality to my clients, I must work full time. I also now specialise in weddings and engagement portrait sessions. I no longer do portrait or other types of photography so you can rest assured that I understand every aspect of weddings – I’ve seen and photographed most things that can occur at a wedding 🙂
Are you fully insured?
Yes, I have full public liability, professional indemnity, employee liability and equipment cover. However, as a bride and groom, I strongly suggest you should still have wedding insurance in place.
Can I see a whole wedding that you have photographed?
Absolutely, I would always recommend you ask wedding photographers to see full weddings and not just their best shots from the day. I tell a story of the whole day and I’d be delighted to show you every step of the story by taking you through a recent full wedding.
Do you work alone?
I do work alone 99% of the time, it is me you are hiring to shoot your wedding based on the style of my photography and I’m committed to giving you that consistency. It is also my responsibility to capture the full story of your day and I find that easier to do working alone. However I can provide a second photographer if required for an additional fee of £400, this may be useful if you want equal coverage of the bride and groom pre-wedding preparations or have a particularly large wedding, say over 250 guests.
Do we need to feed you?
There are no requirements or obligation to feed me on the day, I’m quite happy to bring along my own supplies. However, I would never turn down a meal if offered and it is always appreciated.
Do you shoot group photos?
I do think a small number of group photos on your wedding day are important, if for nothing else for the family history books. A wedding is about bringing two families together and that I feel should be documented. That being said the formal photos part of the day is often the most fraught for all concerned if there are too many groups to organise. I also don’t want to pull you away from your guests and the enjoyment of the celebration of your day. I work quickly – often using an usher to help me gather guests from that bar (mainly) – and would typically spend 20 to 30 minutes at most to get all of the group shots. I would recommend the following shots and don’t forget I will be there all day capturing shots of mostly everybody enjoying themselves.

What do you mean by processed images on a USB?
I select and hand edit every image that I deliver to you. I don’t use a lot of effects or over-processing, I prefer a to produce a sharp and more natural look to the images I deliver to you. All of the images you receive are licensed for your use, this means you can print, copy and share the images as you wish and in perpetuity. All of the images are high-resolution images. They are provided to you on a USB stick for safe keeping. All of the images can be downloaded directly from your online web gallery also. I do not put watermarks or any logos or branding on any of my images.
Do you do black and white images?
I will give you a mix of black and white and colour images, I don’t provide a full set of each as there are photos which just lend themselves to be black and white. However, if you would like to see a particular image in black and white, just let me know and I’ll make a B&W edit for you after you receive your photographs.
How long will you stay for?
I will be with you from bridal preparation, around the same time as your make-up artist, through to well beyond the first dance, usually around 10:30 pm. I always like to capture some of the party after the first dance and if possible do a final lovely portrait of the bride and groom with striking lighting before I leave. If you are having fireworks or sparklers later in the evening I will also stay to capture this for no additional fee.
Do you do a pre-wedding or engagement shoot?
Yes, it is a complementary part of my package. I love this shoot, it is a chance for us to get to know each other more, a chance to see how I work behind that camera and for you to get used to being in front of the camera. Above all it is fun and you get to take away some lovely shots for you to keep.
What does licensed for your use mean – you mentioned it one of your questions above?
Copyright law says the photographer who took the photograph owns the usage rights to the image. I then grant you licence to use the image as you see fit and forever, this includes printing, sharing, copying and using it on social media. If I didn’t retain copyright of the images then I would need to get your approval every time I use one of the images at a wedding fayre, in publicity and marketing materials, on my blog or on my website.
How many photos will I receive from my wedding?
I normally expect to deliver between 500 – 600 photographs telling the entire story of your wedding day.
Can you also produce prints of our wedding photos?
All of your processed images are placed into an online password protected gallery where you can order prints and other products such as canvases, framed prints or acrylics. You and your guests can order these directly from the gallery, pay for them using credit, debit card or PayPal and they will be delivered directly to your door.
I know you don’t do a hard sell on albums but if I want an album or photo book can you help?
I am happy to work with you to help on the design of an album that tells your story, this design can be for an album that you are creating yourself or for my photo book, details of which can be found here. I do not charge for any album design work, you simply pay the production costs once we are happy with the design layout.
What happens if you are ill or unable to attend for whatever reason?
In the extremely unlikely event, I am unable to attend, I am part of a group of professional photographers all of whose work I admire and who would be able to provide backup should it be needed.
What camera system do you use and do you have backups?
I use two Canon 5D Mark III bodies. My main lenses are a canon 24-70mm f/2.8 Mk II, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS Mk II and a Canon 100mm Macro. All of the lenses are professional grade L lenses which are the best Canon offer and the bodies are industry award-winning camera systems producing amazing results in all conditions including low light. I have backup camera systems and lenses should anything happen on the day. Happy to talk cameras until the cows come home so please just shout if you want to know more.
Now that the wedding day has past how long is it before I get to see my images?
I hand edit every image and take great care to produce the best output possible for you, as such I may not be the fastest in terms of turn around but my clients have all said it is worth the wait. My current turn around times are up to 28 days, however, in many cases, I will turn your gallery around in 14 days.
Will you blog our wedding or put it on social media?
I know that many of my couples love to have their images displayed on my website and on my blog. I do like to blog as many weddings as possible. However, if you would rather I didn’t put your images on my website just let me know
We love the story that you have captured for us – can I buy you a pint to say thank you?
Well yes, I’m always up for meeting up after the wedding at any time, However my business grows on the word of lovely happy couples like yourselves. It would be really helpful to post a review or star rating on my business Facebook and google plus pages or a written testimonial. If you do get a chance to leave a star rating that would be amazing and I’ll also send you a 10×12 print of your choice as a thank you. Ratings for both can be added by clicking the links to Google+ and Facebook at the bottom of this web page.
